Exploring Beauty- Cyndi

Love = Beauty!

We are sooo happy you are here! Today’s post in the Exploring Beauty Series is brought to you by our talented and beautiful friend Cyndi! Cyndi is an amazing makeup artist by day and runs the blog A Cynful Life by night. Let’s see what she had to say!

Beauty can mean and be so many things. It is such an immeasurable word in some ways. But since DeuxBella asked what it means to me, you are getting my heavy loaded take on the word, for the good and/or the bad. That is what is interesting about the word. It can be good or bad and still have beauty. Let me explain.

I think one of the most beautiful things I have witnessed in my life is my own parent’s unadulterated love for one another.

It was special to witness and I have a beautiful family because of it. On the other hand, I wore a beautiful highlighter the other day and was complemented on how bright and lovely my skin looked. I was feeling pretty happy about that considering we’re in the midst of a bleak winter. Undying love…..having a good skin day, feels a bit silly to compare right!? But truthfully, they both have beauty. My great skin day is infinitely less important, yes, but it still was beautiful.

Understanding that beauty’s only limits are the ones that our uncomprehending minds give it can be freeing.

Once you stop giving beauty so many restrictions and comparisons, you start to see beauty in everything. In a relationship, in a good day and beauty In Love.

Beauty to me is the natural result of not being afraid. Beauty will radiate out of something when it is uninhibited by fear, limits, rules or expectations.

A mountain doesn’t ask if it is beautiful, it just is. You can find beauty in everything. I think you can even feel beauty. We use other words to describe it like happiness, elation, or peace but you know it when you feel it.

So, if you can find beauty in everything, how do you find it in yourself? I think the answer to that is loving yourself. And how do you love yourself? I don’t know the entire answer, but I know you need to start by telling yourself you are beautiful, just the way you are. Or listen to Bruno Mars tell you that.

I find that beauty in one’s self takes the form of confidence a lot of times. No expectations, just being in the moment with who you are. Those are times that I created special moments, and probably looked most beautiful. I could be doing something ridiculous, but if I was confident, I guarantee I was looking good. One of my favorite comedians nailed it saying: THERES POWER IN LOOKING SILLY AND NOT CARING THAT YOU DO-AMY POEHLER

So be you. You’ve heard it before, and you’ll hear it again, but being confident is beautiful.

Being a part of the beauty industry for 10 years now, I have seen the vain, the jealous, and the icky part of this industry. However, I stick around because of the backbone of it, which is cultivating beauty. The real kind, like I’ve talked about. Behind the bad stuff that masks the good stuff, are tools to empower people to feel better about themselves and the world they live in. Tools to heal and repair, to revive and replenish and yes, to instill confidence. I love being a part of this industry because, at the end of the day, if I can help another person wear a highlighter and have an awesome skin day, then it is worth it. Who knows, maybe the person that compliments her will be the love of her life; they will make babies and love each other forever; all because of a little highlighter. Just sayin’. It could happen and it would be beautiful.
