In today’s world we can be connected no matter where we are or what is going on around us. The key to travel and staying in business when on the go is simple. Kanex. The best portable technology solutions for working women. Whether you are a blogger or a CEO you can turn that downtime into productive time!
After sharing our favorite travel essentials a few weeks ago we were asked more about the Kanex products I mentioned in that post. It was pretty fitting that I share this because I put my Kanex items through the ultimate test recently.
As most of America was aware, last week those of us on the southeast coast of the U.S. went through Hurricane Matthew. For our family here in Charleston, South Carolina that meant school was canceled, my husbands clinics were closed and Governor Haley issued evacuation orders.
They closed the freeway going east bound and reversed it, meaning you could only go west, to help with the evacuation. It was a surreal sight to see all of these people leaving the city in mass exodus. Before leaving we had to make preparations to our home to minimize damage as well as ensuring all photos were uploaded and stored online and our records were fully detailed for insurance.
The next piece of business was making sure that no matter where we were or how long we might be evacuated, I could stay in touch with my team (and also take care of Deux Bella). I still had deadlines for work I was trying to make since the rest of the world did not stop for the impending storm.
My Kanex portable battery pack and lightening USB were key to me being able to stay connected during this time. Not only did it allow me to take care of my work obligations (a welcome distraction from the anxiety of the storm). But it is now one of the BIGGEST things I recommend adding to your emergency supply list. With the ability to monitor power outages, flood threats, storm trackers, evacuation zones, etc. all done digitally. NOT having a portable battery is almost like not having food.
While waiting for a storm to approach is scary, it is also a little bit boring! You are filled with anxiety about the approaching disaster and faced with the unknown, but you also sit and watch it coming. SLOWLY.
Being connected was a great way to distract myself, and my kids during the downtime after preparations were finished and we were safe. Growing up in California I have experienced my share of earthquakes, including living through the 89′ quake. Those and other disasters are more sudden but I still recommend having a spare battery pack and USB cable because you will be able to contact authorities if you need help, stay informed about closures and other important information. The red cross has an app I suggest downloading.
Natural disasters aside, having a portable power pack, cable and keyboard are a MUST for the working woman. Whether you are a blogger, a work at home momma, or a business woman working the 9-5. Using time efficiently is such a HUGE thing and these items are key to efficiency. Which is why I have been using and loving my battery pack, keychain cable and keyboard non-stop for months!
So imagine our excitement when Kanex offered to do a giveaway for our readers!?!?!?!?! Pretty much early Christmas. Your welcome. 🙂 Every person who wants to stay connected should enter this so make sure to share it with anyone who fits that category! And seriously add a portable battery pack to your emergency supplies YESTERDAY!
So after only a day or so without power we and our house did survive. We are grateful for the first responders who took care of things and put themselves into harms way to protect everyone else. We are grateful our home was not damaged OR flooded which was miraculous since the water came all the way up to our play-set for quite awhile. We are grateful that we were able to stay connected to friends and family and that we could help others who were not as fortunate.
We hope you enjoy this post with our storm recap and also get the opportunity to enter the giveaway that Kanex has been so generous to do for us and our readers! We hope you love it as much as we do!
And a little something funny to end things on… because if you can’t laugh you’ll cry. 😉
