After years of working in the beauty and fashion industry we have spent countless hours backstage at various fashion shows, photo shoots, weddings, etc. Not surprisingly, we have learned a thing or two because when a fashion emergency strikes- and they ALWAYS strike. The most important is being prepared with a fully stocked kit! The pros call this a “prop kit”.
For those of you who don’t know what a prop kit is, it’s usually a large suitcase filled with fashion emergency fixes.
So with back-to-school upon us, we were delighted that we were asked to share our own favorites we keep on hand, because while we may not need a suitcase full of supplies, (although your teenage daughter may argue this) there are still some things I’ve learned to keep on hand in my own personal fashion emergency kit and they are great for everyone to keep in your car, desk or locker. We’ve even included a handy FREE printable list you can use while you are doing your back-to-school shopping.
Let’s get started!
But first, let’s take a selfie… kidding!
First let’s talk about the different fashion emergencies and how, like a girl scout, we can be prepared.
Emergency #1:
You just got the CUTEST pair of pants, you are so excited to wear them- except they are waaaay too long. And you don’t have a sewing machine stowed away in your car.

Remove one side of the tape strip backing
Press firmly with the exposed tape side down
Remove the other side of the tape backing to expose the tape
It will look like this
Place the fabric where you want it to cover. Press firmly
Now the shirt neck is just right!

Emergency #9:
You are ready to dance the night away and an hour in your feet are killing you!
Solution: Foot cushions
Why we love it: Beauty does not always need to be painful. These little guys will keep your feet feel great and prevent slipping and toe scrunching. This will help you walk in heels without wobbling around like you are just learning to walk.
Emergency #10:
You’ve got a new pair of shoes that aren’t broken in and your feet are not going to love them.
Solution: Blister Stick
Why we love it: Do a little pre-planning and swipe on your heels and anywhere else that might rub before you head out and you will be blister free!
Emergency #11:
You are a messy eater and your clothes prove it.
Solution: Stain remover wipe or stick
Why we love it: Because a girls got to eat! Sometimes accidents happen and these are perfect for not only keeping you looking great but making sure stains don’t set into your clothes.
These items are perfect to keep stocked in your car, purse, desk OR in your teenage daughter’s locker! Because being a teenager is hard enough without worrying about a fashion emergency!
Make sure to pick a case that’s big enough to hold all of the essentials, but not so bulky you wouldn’t be able to carry it with you— Target has a great selection of makeup bags.
