Have you ever met someone that you just clicked with? Have you ever read something on a blog or in a magazine or a cute quote on Pinterest, that you were just like- Yesssssssss! That is kind of how it was for us when we “met” District of She. What/who is District of She? We are glad you asked! Let us introduce you. 🙂
We wanted to create more than just a magazine. We set out to create a culture, ignite a movement, develop a community by women, for women.
Thus District of she was born.
Rooted in a powerful idea that women can cultivate real raw human relationships amongst a culture that is socially connected but relationally detached.
A place where passion would be the driving force, community over competition. Sharing what inspires us, breaks us and empowers us.
It’s time we were a little more transparent with who we are, how we live, and what we struggle with, and what fuels us. Building a community of strong driven women by embracing our passions and sharing the talents we’ve been given. Artistically growing, spiritually awakening…
How freaking cool is that vision? This is something that resonates so strongly with Deynece and I, it is the motivator behind our blog and channel. We wanted a way to connect with each other and other women. As we have ventured out into the world wide web, where scary cyber bullies and trolls lurk, there is also an incredible culture of people who are so passionate and encouraging and talented and…. the list goes on and on, (and maybe we will, in a future post on all the things we love about the blogging world that we have learned so far).
If you know me or Deynece, you know that we both have a lot of experience and interest in other fields, me being psychotherapy and medicine. But we have always kept the love of the beauty world. Is that because we just LOVE wearing makeup all the time and spending all of our pennies and time on the latest trend? Trying to recreate the most Lady Gaga or Hunger Games worthy makeup looks? As much as we love them- no way!! In fact if you will notice, most of our tutorials and posts are the natural, easy, do-able looks. Yes! We love to play with the most artistic mediums and the most trendy looks, we ARE artists after all. 🙂 BUT we are so much more than makeup! We have babies and husbands and friends and families and bills and worries and lives that are happening whether we have that perfect lip color on or not. Basically it is the COMMUNITY OF BEAUTY that we really feel passionate about. It is THAT community that inspires us. As much as we may want to rock our sweats and a messy top-knot and no makeup, day after day because hey, our kids and hubs don’t seem to mind. 😉 But we also respect the fact that we all feel better when we take a little pride in ourselves. When we take a tiny amount of time to present our best selves, to the world but more importantly- to ourselves!
We are so in love with this shared philosophy and are honored to have been featured on the districtofshe.com. They are launching a beauty section of their magazine and asked Deynece to make a Winter Makeup Tutorial to help launch it! It is a very pretty look but also achievable for all levels of makeup artists.
