Operationalize Beauty |Exploring Beauty Series

Happy Wednesday beautiful friends!

I am really loving our Exploring Beauty series. I hope you are as well!

I love all the perspectives we are collecting and today we have thoughts shared from a fellow blogger and all around LOVELY individual Erika from the blog Operationalize Beauty. As I read her words, I was so moved and found myself nodding my head to so many things. I think you will find yourself doing the same thing. So read on ♥

Operationalize Beauty

I am a thirty-something mother of two living in St Louis Missouri. I have two beautiful girls, and one supportive husband. My site was inspired by two things: the word operationalize (which basically means to define something that is hard to define by describing its characteristics), and a conversation about the character Topanga from Boy Meets World (and now, Girl Meets World). Growing up, I remember thinking she was the most beautiful girl on TV. But it wasn’t just her perfect skin and princess hair. It was her spirit- her complete lack of cares given about anyone’s negative perception of her. She was passionate and free and alive. I remember wishing I could be that bold. That confident. That beautiful. Now I run a blog dedicated to exploring what makes a person beautiful, and talking about those truly gorgeous women we meet every day.

Photo Shoot Makeup Tips & Full Tutorial

PHOTO SHOOT MAKEUP TIPS & TUTORIAL!!!

WELCOME BACK BEAUTIES!!!

Melissa and I were so excited because when she came out to visit me in February we got an awesome opportunity to work with an amazing celebrity Photographer, Cat Palmer. We are so grateful to Cat that we have these shots from her, not just for business but because we have been best friends for almost 10 years now and these are super special and turned out great! Thanks Cat!

In today’s photo shoot makeup tutorial I am going to take you through what are some of our tips & tricks are for keeping your makeup on longer throughout the day, to show up on camera, but not look overdone in your professional photos.

Make sure to watch through the tutorial for all the tips, but here are a couple of things to keep in mind.

  • Do not use ANY sunscreen in your products, this creates a white cast over the skin and does not photograph well.
  • Use WAY more makeup then you use on a normal day, the flash takes away I would say between 40-60% of what your makeup looks like in real life.
  • Use flattering colors that are timeless and classic if you are going to be using these photos for a good amount of time. This especially applies to Bridals, Engagements and of course wedding makeup.
  • BLACK LINER & MASCARA ONLY, You want to make sure your eyes pop so for photo shoots put away that brown liner!
  • For lip stick use a color that will enhance the natural tone of the lips, enhance your featured but not be too overpowering.

We hope you enjoy our Photo Shoot Makeup Tutorial!!

Hope you all enjoyed the tutorial as much as Melissa and I enjoyed filming it for you! Here is a complete list of all the products we used to create these looks. I did my makeup using all the same products before we started the video.

Casual Date Night Outfit | Heidi Powell Love Who You Are Graphic T & Heart Trucker Hat

Hey Guys! I wanted to quickly share how much I am LOVING my Graphic T that I got from Cents of Style made for Heidi Powell. I have been a LONG time fan of Heidi and Chris Powell from always watching Extreme Makeover Weightless Edition.

They inspire those around them to be healthy but it’s not just what’s on the outside but that you are happy with yourself on the inside. While I was looking CentsofStyle.com I came across a Collection with Heidi and I was SO excited!! Once I saw this pic of her in the Bless Sweatshirt *which I also had to get* I loved how effortless and beautiful she looks in just a Trucker Hat and a Sweatshirt.
