The Kura Door | Japanese Holistic Spa | Salt Lake

The Kura Door Japanese Holistic Spa

Relaxation + Rejuvenation + Meditation = TOTAL ZEN!! These are the best words to sum up my experience at The Kura Door Japanese Holistic Spa here in the Avenues in Salt Lake City.

I was given a gift certificate for The Solstice package from my sweet Dad for my birthday and it included a 45 Minute soak in an Ofuro Bath followed by a 90 minute Kura Massage. IT WAS MAGICAL!!

I’m going to take you through this amazing experience with me and of course for all my ladies this is for you, BUT for all the men out there keep this in mind for the women in your life and for yourself! There were two gentlemen there while I was there and my husband and I have a couple retreat scheduled there as well!!

Upon arrival you walk into the Spa and the font room has the most amazing aroma that you could imagine. This is the main entrance and gift shop as you enter into The Kura Door.

The front desk attendant got me all checked in, papers filled out and then she brought me over to a sitting area to remove my shoes and get on some slippers and handed me a robe to change into.

Once you change and get all your clothes into a locker, while waiting for your service to begin you can get some tea, water and snack and relax in the common area room or the Meditation room. You also have he choice of going into the Sauna or Steam Room.

Next I was greeted by my bath attendant, now let me clarify that you are in your own private room with no one around you. Once your attendant goes through the services and layout of the Ofuro Bath with you, you are left alone.

She gave me the choice between three types of Japanese Tea, Peppermint, Lavendar and Black Tea, and once she makes it your kettle is placed next to your bath so you can refill at your pleasure.

Along with the tea they have prepared cucumber lemon water in a pitcher if you get thirsty or hot and need a refreshing glass of infused hydration. In addition there is a small dish with two ice cold wash cloths for your neck or head of you get too warm and cucumbers to put over your eyes. You can also adjust the bath water and add more hot or cold to get the water to your liking.

I was also given a choice of three different amazing bath salts to be added to help your experience. My choices were either detox, relieve stress or just calming and soothing…. I’ll take all three please!!

They are smelled amazing and you can purchase them out in the gift shop.

The attendant informed me that after my 45 minutes were up, there would be a chime that goes off indicating the Ofuro bath has ended. At this point you again can choose to sit in the sauna or steam room while you wait for your massage, but since I was so warm from my bath I just went into the Meditation room and had a handful of Almonds.

Ahhh next was my Kura 90 minute massage and it was glorious! Just what my muscles needed to relax and detox. My masseuse was always making sure that I was comfortable with the pressure of the massage and offered to go firmer or softer depending on how I felt.

The Kura Door really thought about the little things to make your experience that much more elevated. You lay upon a heated massage blanket that you can control the temp of, a knee pillow to release lower back pain and a Lavendar scented rice pillow for your eyes.

The lotion was heated, can we say amazing!!! That made such a big difference in the overall experience of staying super relaxed during the massage.

I Love The Kura Door Japanese Holistic Spa!

For the leg massage once your one leg is taken out of the blanket, they wrap your foot in a hot towel, then wrapped again in a regular towel to keep in the heat for your feet. A Hot towel was also placed on my back before starting my back massage.

This was such a wonderful experience and once I finished my massage I was asked if I wanted to sit in the steam room or sauna, you better believe I took advantage of that while I was there.

After I was finished and returned to the ladies room I also noticed all the nice little things in the bathroom to help you get cleaned up a bit before leaving. There is a shower if you need or choose to take one and then placed on the counter were: All natural deodorant spray, combs, bobby pins, Q-Tips, hair ties, face cleanser, mouthwash, and lotion.

I would highly recommend The Kura Door to anyone asking and wanting a day of rest, relaxation, meditation and rejuvenation.

They also offer a day pass and doesn’t include services but does include the sauna steam room, meditation etc.

For ladies looking to pamper you can also get a manicure and pedicure as well and finish your day with a little shopping!

Hope you guys enjoyed this experience with me and if you want to book your Kura Door experience click here.
